Frequently Asked Questions
Physical Therapy
What should I expect at my first visit?
I will review your medical history, medications, home/work environment, and perform a thorough assessment to properly evaluate your condition. You should wear loose fitting clothes if possible and have comfortable footwear available. I like to evaluate you based on what you do normally at home, so if you normally walk around barefoot that is perfectly fine. I will then review the findings, provide home exercises, and formulate a treatment plan with your goals in mind. Visits typically last an hour and initial pelvic health visits may be closer to 90 minutes.
Do I need to get a doctor’s order for physical therapy?
While it is preferred, it is not always necessary. I can reach out to your doctor after your first visit, if needed, to communicate any concerns, goals, and send them your PT plan of care. If I am seeing you for a condition not previously evaluated by your doctor, after 30 days an order and a signed plan of care from your doctor will be needed in order to continue.
Isn’t it better if I go to a "regular" clinic?
Unless you are a super heavy power lifter and require this type of equipment, absolutely not.
All of the equipment that is needed for your rehabilitation is brought to your home, making it just as effective as a traditional outpatient clinic. This includes weights, bands, elastic tubes, balance foam, balance boards, steps, Swiss balls, and a portable bike. And if you need your own, I will provide you a link for easy ordering.
In addition, doing therapy at home is so much more convenient. Traveling to an outpatient clinic can be very time consuming, difficult to fit into a busy schedule, and for some can be quite tiring. You also won't have to worry about transportation logistics if a family member doesn't drive.
What areas do you travel to?
I am located in east Orlando and travel to Waterford Lakes, Eastwood, Stoneybrook, Avalon Park, and the closer surrounding areas. Anything beyond a 15 minute drive will be determined on a case by case basis. For areas beyond the 15 minute radius, there is a $30 travel fee.
Do you accept insurance or Medicare?
I contract with two companies who accept many larger insurance plans and Medicare. I am still your therapist but they do all of the administrative work. . This allows me to spend my time on what I do best, working with my patients and clients! If your insurance is not accepted, I can work with you on a self pay/cash basis and can provide a super bill upon request. I see many self pay clients as well.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Zelle, Venmo, check, cash, or credit card are accepted. Checks can be made out to Total Care Physical Therapy and Wellness LLC.

How much will my insurance pay for physical therapy?
There is huge variation among insurance companies and plan, so there is no single answer. I always advise you to review your insurance plan carefully. Keep in mind that many plans have deductibles and co-pays so please be aware of that.
